Drug-Arm Street Evangelism

In 2009 I had a training day with Drug Arm, Auckland; an inter-denominational Christian  charitable organisation dedicated to working with people with alcohol, drug and addiction issues.  The Arm stands for "Awareness and Relief Movement."

The core part of Drug-Arm's ministry is their Street Van Outreach; which is equipped with trained volunteers, emergency first aid, hot drinks, food and resources. The team is on the street every third Friday night of the month from 10:00pm to 2:00am.  This is my second year and I love it.

Drug-Arm Street Van Ministry

We are excited when we meet people who choose to make decisions to follow Christ.  Two people that I know are now serving God in Drug Arm, all because they were shown kindness and love through the gospel of Christ.

Last week we met two guys under the Grafton bridge in Auckland City and one of them said, "Thank you for praying for us and for giving us something to eat. We will not forget what you have done for us."

Another group met a man lying on cardboard boxes under some bushes shaded from the rain.  After giving him a blanket, warm soup, a sandwich and hot tea and listening to him talk about life, they then prayed with him before leaving.  He thanked them for 'calling' on him.
