Sandra Marsh

OAC Wellington - Sandra Marsh God opened my eyes ... I was raised with a Catholic background, so I knew there was a God and that He created the world, but I never had a relationship with Him.  At 15, I left the Catholic church and I stopped going to church altogether because I didnt think I needed it. To me, I learnt all I needed to learn at college (I went to a Catholic college).

Who is Sandra Marsh?

At the age of 17 I went to Victory Christian Centre (where I now attend) because my mum was going and she kept nagging me to go, so I went, simply to stop her from going on about it. Nothing happened. I sat in the back for about 6 months and got nothing out of it, until one day God opened my eyes.

I finally realised that I needed God in my life, that I needed to have a relationship with Him, so I gave my heart to the Lord. Not a lot changed for me, I stayed sitting in the back of church for about a year, and I felt no great change in my life, I thought I had done it wrong.

Again, God had to open my eyes, and I ended up going to the 'Get Smart' Conference even though I didn't want to. While there I heard Andrew Kubala speak, and he said "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear. Fear Him, who after the killing of the body, has the power to send you to hell." Luke 12:4-5

God really opened my eyes when I heard that, and my life was never the same again. I became a front row person at church, and began to fully worship God.

What does Sandra Marsh do?

My first taste of Evangelism was when Julian Batchelor came to my church and taught us the 'Black Book', I was so scared about sharing with people, but I was determined to do it, and I set myself a goal of sharing with at least one person a week.

Through this, the Head of Evangelism at my church asked if I'd like to attend the 'School of Evangelism' run by OAC, and I thought, "I have nothing else to do on Monday nights, so why not.

Once again God opened my eyes, the Gospel really came alive to me for the first time and my hunger to reach the lost grew. When it was time for OJ, God spoke to me about leaving my job so I could go. I tried to get the time off work but couldn't, so I quit and went on OJ.

After OJ, I applied for job after job and got nowhere, I was becoming very discouraged. In March I really felt to come in to OAC and just help out the Wellington branch occasionally. The first week, I ended up helping out at the Regional Retreat and doing a Bible in Schools Assembly for 400 children with Steph. I got hooked, and it resulted in a fulltime internship.

God has really touched my heart about reaching the unsaved and training, teaching and equipping others in how to reach the lost. I am really excited about what God has instore for me in the future. I want to start preaching in churches and really encourage, inspire people and let them know the importance of evangelism. I know the future is going to be an exciting time, and only God knows whats going to happen next.
