SO WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Oxford Dictionary
1. the teaching or revelation of Christ.
"it is the Church's mission to preach the gospel"
2. the record of Christ's life and teaching in the first four books of the New Testament.
Gospel is an Anglo-Saxon term meaning Good News
What is the Good News?
GOD
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" Genesis 1:1
God made all things and rules all things. That means he decides the rules by which he requires us to live.
MAN
God also made man. He made us in his image. But, we have not lived according to those rules. Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 6:23 also tells us that "the wages of sin is death."
JESUS
Jesus came to earth and lived a perfect life. He was fully God and fully man. John 3:16 tells us that Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins. If we confess our sins to him and believe in him he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. 1 John 1:9-10
GOD
The day will come for us all when we stand before God. If we have accepted Jesus as our Savior then when God sees us he will not see our record of wrongs but rather Jesus' perfect record and acknowledge that the debt has been paid. We will then be welcomed into eternity with him. Psalm 32:1-2
